Steinert Marching Unit Guide for Use and Care of Uniforms

Each Unit member has a general and dress uniform that is fitted during Band Camp. The member is responsible for the proper care and maintenance of the uniform and its parts so that they can be returned upon the completion of the school year in good condition. Guidelines for the proper use and care of the uniforms are as follows.  Please keep the following in mind

 New Band Pants

  • Turn pants inside/out.
  • Spray stained area with SHOUT. Let sit overnight.
  • Wash in cold water on delicate cycle.
  • DO NOT use bleach!!
  • HANG to dry. DO NOT PUT PANTS IN DRYER.
  • Professionally press or leave inside/out and press with iron on delicate (medium) setting with a damp cloth between iron and pants.
  • DO NOT PUT IRON DIRECTLY ON PANTS!!!!!

These guidelines apply to both musicians and front members unless noted otherwise.

Shoes

  • The student is responsible for the cost of his/her shoes.
  • To maintain uniformity, all shoes are purchased through the school.
  • Shoes will be distributed during Band Camp.
  • Shoes must be properly cleaned in preparation for performances.

Band Uniforms

  • Uniform jackets must be dry cleaned.
  • Baldrics and any uniform part with sequins cannot be washed or dry-cleaned.
  • Helmets must be cleaned with soft scrub’
  • Sequins = Leave be

Front Uniforms

  • The student is responsible for the cost of their bodysuits arid tights.
  • To maintain uniformity, there are guidelines about the purchase of these items.
  • White uniform parts can be machine washed In warm or cold water but not hot water.
  • Do not use bleach.
  • White uniform parts must be alr-dried. Do not place them in a dryer
  • Green uniform dresses must be hand washed and then air-drled.
  • Vests with sequins can not be washed or cleaned.
  • The green front dresses cannot be Ironed!

Gloves

  • The student is provided one set of gloves
  • Purchase of any additional gloves is the responsibility of the student.
  • To maintain uniformity, all gloves are purchased through the school.
  • Gloves can be washed.’
